DRP Leader Mr.Chankook Park (DRP) comment after his recent Visit through Bangladesh
—————————————————————————–
I come to Bangladesh and meet with a group of artists who work in Khunra and Chittagong. Students and professors of Chittagong Art Institute. There was a chance to talk in the mediation space operated by the deans and the three professors there.
Both students and writers are recognized as the work they are doing now, and the biggest worry is whether they can make a living.
I can understand the nervousness, but why art? These questions arise. As I entered the lecture hall of the university, the table and chair did not fit the situation because of the structure of the conference hall.
We all started to change the structure so that we could talk together and talk close to each other.
Would not it be an artist to react more self-confidently in the face of circumstances and circumstances than to be bound by the essence?
Below is a memo for Chittagong University’s lecture.
How do I make a different living condition?
Individuals are still being isolated within the sophisticated capital and bureaucracy.
Technology is developing at a rapid pace, but it is driven by capital logic, not by responding to social needs. It is bad because development is not bad but difficult to control.
Individuals are helpless against the system.
Somewhat hopeful is that individuals have media that connect directly to the world and can share values and tastes beyond their territories. They can cooperate with each other and cross the territory of the state and capital from time to time.
joy. beauty. taste. Technology. education. We can create new territories by sharing our interest in society and the environment.
This is not limited to existing artists. Contemporary people already have weapons that can practice their own projects. I have a lot of resources to try something.
My interest is to create a concrete place in everyday life and to form an autonomous territory. The answer is not determined. I do not know. The process of making should be the answer. You have to try and fix it first and use the current conditions. It should combine wisely with the needs of the local community. It is regeneration.
Art is most important, but I think that art here should be ‘attitude, not art.’
Art is full of playfulness and excitement about freedom and playfulness. It creates various forms of communication. It does not get caught in labor.
There is energy to do with difficult things. Challenge new solutions. I keep making something.
Including techniques of living. To grow. I like to cook and enjoy. I respect the person who makes it. I am interested in the elements that make up cities rather than cities.
It would be interesting to create a base in various parts of Asia including Korea. This base can be made into a space that is solidarity beyond territorial conditions.
It is a good place to play and the price of land should be cheap. It is better if it is a decadent city that has a long history.
It is because we can share old wisdom with old buildings.
DRP is an attempt.
The nonArt butArt was a more aggressive attempt, but it did not last long. It is because it received government funding. I am doing another try now.
Robil and the AquaPonic Garden are among those.
I wish I had a base in Bangladesh.
Contemporary art was fun, but now it is a crisis. There is a lot more fun than art, and art is falling into a plausible decoration.
Everyone has a spirit of art. We need to find more abundant possibilities in art. Sometimes it is stimulating, sometimes mediated, and sometimes an innovative solution.
How do we create an autonomous form of life that is impossible with bureaucracy and the capital system?
It will probably be possible only with Art Spirit – Chankook Park (DRP).
